What do you think about Multiculturalism?
Before I started to travel, I thought that everybody was the same. That is what school taught you and what you watched on tv. Right?
I could see an advertisement with people from different countries smiling and having a great time. “Multiculturalism” looked so great.
It seemed that it didn’t matter where you were from or what was your culture, absolutely everybody had the same behavior and was extremely happy together.
After I have visited over 22 countries, I can’t disagree more. As I realized a while ago what we watch on tv is normally bullshit.
Many times I talk with people from all over the world. They are open mind, and they have been in many countries with different cultures.
When the topic of multiculturalism comes up I like to ask them:
‘Do you think that, in general, we can understand with people from other cultures?’
Many people say no.
And the ones who say yes, change their mind when I say the next:
‘You have an open mind and me too. You and I, and people like us can understand each other. But, do you believe that the majority of the people are like us? We are the exception. I would say that only 10% of the people, being optimistic, think the same way. The 90% left don’t think so. The huge majority are not interested, don’t want, care or tolerate other cultures. Yes or not?‘
So far everybody agrees with this statement. Everybody who travels.
